Things You’ll Need To Open a Paper Towel Dispenser
- Phillips or flat head screwdriver
- Tweezers
The process is tricky, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll become a pro in no time! So let’s see what the steps are.
Step 1: Opening the Cover
This step might be different for different systems of dispensers. But most of them have a plastic cover on top. You’ll need to move it aside to get your hands into the central part.
Take the screwdriver and turn the screw in a counter-clockwise direction. The cover should pop right off when you pull the screw out.
Step 2: Check for Jams
One of the main reasons that dispensers don’t work as they should is because of occasional jams. Sometimes paper towels get jammed within the rolling pins, which causes the entire mechanism to fail.

If you see a wad of paper towel stuck somewhere, pluck it out with a pair of tweezers. You might not even need the tweezers if the size of the wad is bigger.
Step 3: Pull the Lever
Once you’ve plucked out all the jams, you should be good to go for inserting a new roll. It would be best if you made the tear right above the rollers of the dispenser.
Now pull the towel dispensing lever a few times. This step would shove out the remaining pieces of the old paper tower roll.
Step 4: Put in a New Roll
Now to replace the roll with a new paper towel roll. There’s a slight trick here. You see, the direction of the roll’s end matters. It should be coming towards you from the top and not the other way around.
You can do it backward, but this causes the towels to tear far too quickly, which would result in future jams.
Step 5: Towel Through Roller
Now that you’ve got the right direction, sway the paper towel ends through the dispenser rollers. Make sure that the towel goes through completely.
Step 6: Closing the Dispenser
This is when you put the cover back on the dispenser. Line up the screw holes and pick up your trusted screwdriver again. Start screwing in a clockwise direction, and you should be good to go when it’s tight.

Easy, wasn’t it? But somethings can still go wrong when you’re having a bad day. So our guide on how to open a paper towel dispenser might help you out.
