Without further ado, let’s get to the tutorials!
How to Wrap a Towel around Your Body and Waist
Let’s walk you through the step-by-step method of wrapping the towel around the body.
Step 1: Choosing the Right Towel
Firstly, the towel should be large enough to wrap around you comfortably. A standard bath towel is enough for slender adults and children. If you are on the larger side, get a beach towel for the job.
The towel should be made of 100 percent cotton. This is important because no other material is as soft and absorbent as cotton. You may also try a blend of 86 percent cotton & 14 percent polyester. This blend dries off fast and lasts for a long time.
Step 2: Drying off
With the right towel chosen, you should dry off a bit before wrapping the towel up around you. This is important because otherwise, you will drip water everywhere you go. No one wants random pools of water in their room, do they?

Because you will be covering mainly your torso with the towel, take care to dry off areas that will not be covered, such as –
- Your arms
- Your face & hair
- Your upper back & shoulders
- Your legs
For a male, you would most probably wrap the towel around your waist, in which case your upper torso, along with the aforementioned body parts, needs to be dried. Simply dry off your arms, legs, and torso before you start wrapping.
Step 3: Positioning the Towel
Once your body is adequately dry, you have to position the towel. Grab the top corners of the towel horizontally, and hold it behind your body. Your hands should be able to easily reach the towel’s corners; however, how far your hands go will depend on your towel’s size.
Women will likely want to wrap the towel around their decolletage, and men will likely do so around their waist. Position the towel accordingly.
Step 4: Wrapping the Towel
Now we’ve come to the main event. You are ready to wrap your body in a soft, plushy towel. Take either of the two corners of the towel and bring it to the other side. Then, overlap the remaining corner on top of it. You are not done yet.
It does not matter the corner you choose to go underneath. Depending on the size of the towel, the first layer may require to be longer. Adjust as needed.
If you are wrapping on top of your chest, you can secure the first layer under your armpit. This makes the process easier, as you can hold it in place while you work with the other corner.
Step 5: Tucking in the Corners
After you are done adjusting so that the towel is snug against your body, simply tuck in the second corner you have wrapped over the top to secure the towel. The second corner should overlap the first layer of the towel on your body.
Fold the corner into the first layer of the towel, which should be sitting horizontally against your body. To ensure that it does not come off, tuck in a rather large section of the corner. You can also try twisting the corner before you tuck it in. This also adds security.
For the waist, you can either follow the same procedure to tuck in the corner or roll the top of the towel. If you want to roll, wrap the towel as stated before, but do not tuck.
Instead, use both of your hands to roll the top edge of the towel down. Make sure to roll all the way around your body. Do it a few times so that the towel is secure in place. You may also try rolling on your chest if the towel is long.
